'Take that back': Corrie's Daisy star responds as co-star 'insults' her character

She's ruffled feathers since she arrived in Weatherfield in November 2020 and Daisy Midgeley has left fans divided with her latest explosive storyline. The devious soap character, played by Charlotte Jordan, has been deeply jealous following the recent return of Nicky Wheatley as a rival to her boyfriend Daniel Osbourne's affections while working together at Weatherfield High.

Daisy was left gobsmacked to discover while trying to set Nicky up with her ex Ashley that he already knew her and that the teaching assistant used to be a sex worker. Then Daisy was in for even more of a shock when teacher Daniel revealed that he had paid her to wear his late wife's clothes after Sinead died in 2019.

But when the couple agreed to move on meddling pupil Max Turner, who had overheard thir row, leaked videos and images from Nicky's past. Sadly Nicky was suspended as a result and a fuming Daniel, assuming that Daisy was responsible, ditched his girlfriend.

Fans are torn over Daisy's behaviour. But actress Charlotte Jordan took to Twitter to defend her character after co-star Sally Ann Matthews likened the story to the drama on the reality show Married At First Sight Australia. On the show, bride Olivia Frazer caused huge controversy by discovering a nude image of co-star Domenica Calarco from the site OnlyFans and sharing it among the cast.

"Daisy is OLIVIA!!!! x" exclaimed Sally. And Charlotte responded with a horrified face and shouted: "SALLY-ANN MATTHEWS YOU TAKE THAT BACK."

Sally Ann, who plays Daisy's stepmum Jenny Connor, jokingly replied: "You take that hyphen out and I’ll think about it…" And she added: "LOVE YOU!!! x" Sally Ann's tweet prompted fans to jump to Daisy's defence with @Sue_489 saying: "Awww I love Daisy, she's just insecure and Daniel should allow for that, he was horrible to her."

@riabyrne laughed: "Oooooh don’t insult Daisy lol", @TraceyKyle4 replied: "Daisy is just misunderstood. I’m loving her character, didn’t at start but hope she stays" and Chelsea said: "Give Daisy a hug from us." "Defo," replied Sally Ann.

Sally Ann then decided "Max is OLIVIA! Kinda ... x#" after it was revealed that Max was the one to expose Nicky. And soap watcher @una_whiting told her: "Am more annoyed at Daniel for assuming it was Daisy … I like them together."

Other viewers of the ITV soap have pointed out that just last year troublemaker Daisy conspired to split up Ryan Connor and his girlfriend Alya Nazir. Daisy plied him with cocktails in the back room of the Rovers Return and when Alya called looking for him Daisy kept schtum about his whereabouts.

Placing her hand on Ryan’s leg, Daisy asked which cocktail he’d prefer, the naggy girlfriend or the night of wild passion. He later woke up in Daisy's bed in the Rovers with no recollection of the night before.

As he begged Daisy not to let slip that he was with her she made untrue suggestions as to what they had been up to. @Hed_F1 tweeted: "Absolutely hilarious seeing Daisy criticise Daniel and Nicki when neither of them have done anything wrong. He hasn’t cheated. Yet she seduced Ryan when he was still with Alya and lied about them sleeping together so he’d dump her."

And @russelltruran asked: "Is Daisy forgetting about what she did to Ryan??" Next week Daniel apologises to an unforgiving Daisy and reveals that it was Max who maliciously shared Nicky’s images with the rest of the school.

With no job and nowhere to live the future is looking bleak for Nicky and, feeling guilty, Daniel says she can stay at his. Meanwhile Jenny advises Daisy not to be stubborn and bury her pride before Nicky gets her claws in.

When a reporter comes knocking at the flat Nicky decides to give her a quote but she is horrified when the story goes online. In the street, Daniel rails at Max for ruining Nicky’s life.
