Puerto Rican record producer Tainy recently opened up about his Grammy nomination and expressed his disbelief and honor at being recognized by such a prestigious award. Speaking at Spotify's Best New Artist party in Los Angeles, Tainy, still in shock, shared his journey and gratitude for the nomination.
Tainy, who hails from Puerto Rico, admitted that he never thought a Grammy nomination would be within his reach. He explained, 'When I started, this wasn't in my possibilities of something that could happen because I come from Puerto Rico.' He further revealed that his aspirations were more focused on the Latin Grammys, which he considered a stretch. However, seeing the growth and recognition he has achieved, he acknowledged that everything has changed so much since then.
The producer's album, 'Data,' released in June 2023, features collaborations with some of the biggest names in Latin music, including Bad Bunny, Myke Towers, Jhayco, Arcángel, Wisin & Yandel, Young Miko, J Balvin, Daddy Yankee, Rauw Alejandro, Feid, Julieta Venegas, and more. Tainy admitted that bringing together such a talented and busy group of artists was challenging. With everyone involved on tour or working on their own albums, it required extensive traveling to meet the label's deadlines. Despite the stress, Tainy expressed his happiness and gratitude to be part of that journey, as he loved every moment of it.
The Grammy-nominated album, 'Data,' falls into the best música urbana album category. While Tainy has already had the opportunity to collaborate with incredible artists, he still dreams of working with Frank Ocean. He admires Frank Ocean greatly and would love the experience of creating music together, even if nothing comes out of it. Tainy feels it would be a special and inspiring opportunity to work with someone who has such a profound impact on his craft.
In 2021, Tainy collaborated with Bad Bunny and Julieta Venegas on the track 'Lo Siento BB:/,' which was later included on 'Data.' Bad Bunny expressed his pleasure at working with Tainy, stating that their collaborations always yield magical results. Meanwhile, Julieta Venegas, known for her hit 'Me Porto Bonito,' admitted to being filled with emotion when she had the honor of sharing vocals on the same track with Tainy.
The Spotify event, where Tainy shared his thoughts, also featured performances from all the Grammy-best new artist nominees, except for Fred again.. Additionally, celebrities like Reneé Rapp, Kesha, Madison Beer, Sofia Reyes, Conan Gray, and Damiano David attended the event, adding to the star-studded atmosphere.
When the 66th Grammy Awards take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 4, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, Tainy will eagerly await the outcome. Regardless of the result, he has already achieved a remarkable feat by being recognized for his talent and contribution to the music industry. Tainy's journey from Puerto Rico to Grammy nomination is a testament to his dedication, perseverance, and ability to create remarkable collaborations that resonate with audiences worldwide.
