Tadhg Beirne pens new IRFU deal to keep him with Munster until the summer of 2025

Tadhg Beirne has secured a new IRFU deal to remain with Munster until at least the end of the 2024/25 season.

Former Leinster starlet Beirne returned from a successful two year spell with the Scarlets to join Munster to push for Ireland recognition and that move has paid off.

His start against France in Saturday's Six Nations encounter was his 27th Test cap, while he also made the Lions squad in South Africa last summer, featuring in two of the three Tests.

"I have made some tough decisions in my career but this was an easy one," said the 30-year-old.

"I am grateful to everyone who has supported me on this journey - my family, my partner and the different coaches along the way who helped me become a better player.

"Representing Munster, Ireland and the Lions over the past few seasons has been fantastic and I am looking forward to contributing in red and green in the years to come."

The Kildare man made his Ireland debut against Australia on the successful 2018 summer tour and played in every one of Ireland's Rugby World Cup fixtures in Japan.

David Nucifora, IRFU Performance Director, commented, "Tadhg’s journey to a green jersey has not been a straight line but he backed himself and proved his quality.

"Since his return to Ireland in 2018 he has continued to improve his game and illustrate his worth to both Munster and Irish rugby with the consistency and quality of his performances."
