'Szoboszlai Hammer!' - German media react to Dominik Szoboszlai's £60m Liverpool move

RB Leipzig midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai is on the verge of becoming Liverpool's second summer signing.

The 22-year-old is set to put pen-to-paper on a long-term deal at Anfield and follow Alexis Mac Allister through the entrance at Anfield.

Szoboszlai will become one of the most expensive Liverpool players after the Reds triggered his £60m release clause just hours before it was due to expire. A stipulation in the Hungary captain's terms meant that buying clubs had until the end of June to snap up the highly-rated midfielder for a sum of just €70m.

The Szoboszlai Hammer!

BILD provided the big story of their German manager luring RB Leipzig's midfielder to Anfield. In recent weeks, the outlet has called for Klopp to replace current Germany manager Hansi Flick as head coach following the former Bayern Munich bosses difficult spell with Die Mannschaft.

In capital letters, they describe the 22-year-old as the Szoboszlai hammer before detailing the rollercoaster week of the £60m move for the Hungary international seemingly being too high for the Reds. However, on Friday that changed completely.

Liverpool's approach to negotiations were further described as "full throttle" as Leipzig wave goodbye to another one of their DFB Pokal-winning heroes after Christopher Nkunku swapped the Red Bull Arena for Stamford Bridge.

Jurgen Klopp's dream player

Sky Germany have been covering the story and situation surrounding Szoboszlai from the Leipzig perspective. With hours remaining before his clause was due to expire, Liverpool made their intentions clear they say - as reported by the ECHO.

Philipp Hinze, the author of the article, describes the Hungarian as Jurgen Klopp's dream player labelling the imminent arrival as athletic, tall, strong with a top mentality.

He has been described as an all-rounder by the broadcaster as he swaps playing in the Champions League with RB Leipzig, following their third-place finish, in order to help the Reds re-establish themselves in the top four.

Jurgen Klopp and Jorg Schmadtke achieve their goal

Kicker have highlighted the role of the two German chiefs in the pursuit of the midfielder. Jorg Schmadtke can take credit for the transfer, should it be completed, after taking over the reigns from Julian Ward - whose parting gift was the arrival of Alexis Mac Allister.

The outlet describe Szoboszlai's impressive season with RB Leipzig in what was a difficult campaign in Saxony. Domenico Tedesco was replaced by Marco Rose, who he thrived under, as they went on to win the DFB Pokal with a 2-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt.

They reveal that the Hungarian upset bosses at Die Roten Bullen with comments over his future at the beginning of last month. "If I can now take a step towards the top five or six clubs in Europe, should I say 'no'? I've never been that type," he said in an interview with a Hungarian newspaper.

Szoboszlai internalized in the spirit of Cristiano Ronaldo

Local Leipzig newspaper Leipziger Volkszeitung has described Szoboszlai as a good fit for Liverpool and could perfectly fit in Jurgen Klopp's side.

The 22-year-old has previously described Cristiano Ronaldo as one of his idols and the outlet draws comparisons with the Portuguese icon. They say the Premier League was "Ronaldoized years ago" but the English top-flight will now experience Szoboszlai's "Siuuu" following in Ronaldo's footsteps.

A sexy player

Former footballer and RB Leipzig reporter Guido Schafer provided a glowing report on the incoming Liverpool midfielder.

Speaking to the Anfield Wrap, the German described the Hungarian as a 'brilliant, sexy player'. He said: "Dominik Szoboszlai is a brilliant player - he is a sexy player.

"Very attractive, very nice player and very skilful. And, he has one of the best right feet in Europe - his technique is unbelievable.

"Also he is a good mentality player. He's working for us in the defence. I think he is able to play in the Premier League and play for this legendary club - for the Reds. He has all the skills you need for a world-class career and a world-class team like the Reds.

"He is a serious player also, and I think also from his brain he is a great believer. He believes in his skills."

And as if there needed to be any more reasons to fall in love with the prospective signing, Schafer's closing statement was this: "He loves Jurgen Klopp, but we all love Jurgen Klopp in this case. I think if Liverpool are able to pay this big money, then they have to buy him."
