Tragedy struck in Damascus as Syrian television anchor Safaa Ahmed, along with two others, lost their lives in an overnight Israeli strike, as reported by the Syrian state news agency. The General Authority for Radio and Television confirmed Ahmed's death as a martyr due to the treacherous Israeli aggression on the capital.

The Syrian defense ministry revealed that the Israeli military conducted the strike using drones and planes around 2 a.m. local time from the direction of the occupied Golan Heights. Despite the attack, the Syrian air defense systems managed to intercept and shoot down most of the missiles and drones. However, the strike resulted in the death of three civilians and injuries to nine others.

Social media videos, geolocated to the Telecom building in Damascus, showed an explosion near the city's military airport, with another video displaying a car engulfed in flames post-blast. The exact location of Ahmed and the others' demise was not disclosed by the Syrian state news agency.

When approached for comments, the Israeli military declined to respond to the reports, maintaining their stance of not confirming such actions in foreign media. Israel has been known to carry out intermittent airstrikes in Syria since last year's attacks by Hamas on October 7.
