'Symbolic' item King Charles never leaves the house without

It's no secret the Royal Family has masses of wealth, jewellery and other expensive possessions, but there is one item that King Charles never leaves home without.

While it's not the priciest piece in the family's collection, King Charles is never seen without a signet ring on his pinky finger. The ring is estimated to be worth around £4,000.

According to jewellery experts at Steven Stone, most of the gold is thought to be fashioned out of the Queen's personal collection from the Clogau St. David Gold Mine in Dolgellau, Wales.

Engraved with the symbol of the Prince of Wales, the title Charles used for 64 years before the death of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, the ring is symbolic of his lineage, and that he was born to be king.

It was last worn by King Charles's uncle, Prince Edward, the Duke of Windsor, who was the Prince of Wales before he ascended the throne, and dates back 175 years, Hello! magazine reports.

Pinky rings became a staple fashion statement for rich English gents at the dawn of the Victorian Era. Aristocratic English gentlemen began wearing a signet ring engraved with their family crest around this time.

Most commonly worn on the little finger of the left hand, the ring would "show off the gentleman’s noble family heritage".
