A woman from Sydney’s south west has been charged following an alleged attempt to drown her children last year.
She was charged with two counts of attempt to drown person with intent to murder.
Police intend to allege in court that the woman threw her two children into the water in September 2023.
Two girls, aged seven and eight, were rescued from Georges river by a passerby on 11 September.
They were both treated at the scene by NSW ambulance paramedics, before being taken to hospital for further assessments.
Their 36-year-old mother was found earlier, after having fallen from Light Horse Bridge near the river.
Officers attached to Liverpool City police area command attended to the woman, after receiving reports of a concern for welfare.
She was treated at the scene by NSW ambulance paramedics, before being taken to hospital in a critical condition.
Police established a crime scene, and had been investigating the incident since.
At around 11.30am on Wednesday 27 November 2024, the woman, now 37, was released from hospital.
Following their investigation, detectives then arrested the woman before taking her to Liverpool police station and charging her.
She was refused bail and appeared before Liverpool local court on Wednesday.
