Sydney FC v Celtic on TV: Channel, kick-off time and live stream details for Sydney Super Cup clash

Celtic have jetted Down Under as they take part in the Sydney Super Cup during the World Cup break.

The tournament - billed as the Ange Postecoglou homecoming tour - gets underway this week as the Hoops are joined by Sydney FC, Everton and Western Sydney Wanderers in the inaugural tournament. Rangers had initially been part of the four-way competition before later withdrawing meaning the first Old Firm showdown outside Scotland was axed.

But the show must go on and the Toffees took the place of the Light Blues. The Celtic players not included in the World Cup finals will be part of the travelling party with Steve Clarke not able to include any Hoops stars in his Scotland squad to face Turkey after Celtic refused to let their players meet up with the international team with this trip seen as integral to their plans for the second half of the season. Here is all the information you need.

Team news

Ange Postecoglou will be without his World Cup stars such as Josip Juranovic, Daizen Maeda and Cameron Carter-Vickers for the trip.

However, key players like Kyogo Furuhashi, Jota, Joe Hart and the like will travel for the Sydney Super Cup.

Celtic are not permitted to release players for the upcoming internationals - with Scotland not including any Hoops stars.

The Scottish champions see the trip as crucial for their second half of the season plans.

A number of fringe players should pick up crucial match minutes while Down Under.

What he said

Speaking after the weekend win over Ross County, Ange Postecoglou said: “I think it will do the boys good to be off and get a week or so because it’s been an enormous shift from them and credit to them because it’s been Champions League, lots of travelling.

"Then I’m changing five or six every game and no one has complained or made an excuse.

'It’s not easy when guys are coming in and out for them to be perfect, so it’s an outstanding effort.'

“We’re going to Australia and four of our boys are going to the World Cup and I wish them all the best. They’re representing themselves, their family and their country as well as this club.

“I’m sure they will do really well and the rest of us go to Australia and it’s still games we want to do well in but obviously without the pressure of combination."
