Sydney FC fire cheeky 'mind the gap' jibe at Rangers after Celtic fan makes 'finish second' claim

Sydney FC fired a cheeky jibe at Rangers as they defeat Celtic in Australia.

The A-League side defeated Ange Postecoglou's Hoops on his homecoming in the Sydney Super Cup with the hosts impressing, particularly in the first period. Robert Mak and Max Burgess both scored cracking goals to complete a comeback win after Kyogo Furuhashi had fired the Scottish champions ahead midway through the first period.

One Hoops supporter commented on Twitter that Sydney 'would finish second in the Scottish Premiership' and the official account for Celtic's opponents earlier today wasted no time in replying to the punter writing: "Mind the gap @RangersFC...". Celtic fans have lapped up the response with well over 5000 likes and 500 retweets to the message.

Postecoglou and Co currently hold a nine point advantage over Rangers at the top of the Premiership standings going into the World Cup break with the pressure building on Ibrox gaffer Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Speaking after the defeat at the Allianz Stadium, Ange said: “It was an entertaining game with plenty of goalmouth action for both teams, but we were well off it today, and to Sydney’s credit, especially in the first-half, they had the better chances and deserved to win.

“The support was brilliant as always, whether it’s back home or around the world, our supporters are passionate about the football club and they always make a great atmosphere. Unfortunately, we couldn’t reward them tonight but hopefully on Sunday.

“We’ll just recover from tonight and have a session on Saturday and prepare as we always do, and try to make sure we’ve got a good mindset, the mindset that we need to be successful.”
