Bandai Namco announced that they're releasing another video game based on the Sword Art Online series. Get ready for a multiplayer-focused adventure when Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream comes out sometime this year. The game is going to be available for the PC through Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the Nintendo Switch.
The game brings players back to the world of Alfheim Online where a new system has been added. However, this same system has malfunctioned resulting in all worlds and all timelines to collide. As a result, Kirito and the rest of the players are now faced with a unique setting along with a challenging environment. With everyone being lost in this uncharted territory, enemies have become allies. In addition, departed characters appear to have returned and unlikely alliances are being formed if everyone has to survive the dangers in this unsettled world.
Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream offers more than 20 playable characters from the Sword Art Online universe. These include those from Season 1 to Season 3 of the show and even the movie. Each of the character belongs to a unique fighting class that has its own attributes.
Closed Beta Test
While there's no actual release date, players have the chance to try the game early with the upcoming Closed Beta Test. During the CBT, players can choose between two modes. The first one is the Co-op Quest. This is an online exclusive mode where players get to be part of a 20-person team and try to clear separate maps. They also get to experience an epic boss fight that's at the end. Second mode is Boss Raid where players get to be part of a raid team consisting of 20 members. To claim victory against this high-difficulty raid boss, players need to truly prepare for the battle.
While the actual game has a lot of playable characters, the CBT only lets players access to these ones:
- Kirito
- Agil
- Argo
- Sinon
- Oberon
- Leafa
