A Swindon-based security company has made its first acquisition as part of ambitious growth plans.
SSGC has acquired Security 2000, a family-run firm which provides a range of security services across Bristol, Avonmouth, Clevedon, Wiltshire and the South West, for an undisclosed sum.
The partnership means SSGC has added mobile patrols and keyholding to its list of services and is the first deal announced following the launch of its major acquisition drive earlier this year.
David Stubbs, chief executive of SSGC, said: “One of the main focuses of our acquisition drive is acquiring businesses that are looking for external backing to support their own growth prospects. That’s exactly the case with Security 2000, who we’re delighted to welcome to the SSGC stable as our first completed acquisition deal."
Mr Stubbs said Security 2000 had an "outstanding reputation" for service across a range of sectors. The Bristol-based firm's main focus is preventing crime against commercial enterprises, which it carries out on behalf of blue-chip organisations. It is responsible for the protection of more than £5bn of property and assets.
Security 2000 director Richard Rees said: “We’re responsible for protecting industrial and trading estates and an ever-increasing portfolio of business and residential clients across the South West. It’s why this partnership with SSGC comes at a great time for us as we continue to grow.
“Our client retention is probably the highest within the security industry and some of our clients have been with us since our first day of trading. We’re delighted to be working with David and his team at SSGC.”
Mike Lloyd and Tanya Wilson, partners in Haines Watts chartered accountants, were both involved in advising on the transaction.

SSGC, which ranked 10th in the Infologue 2021 Top 45 UK Security Companies, is a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant. The company employs more than 500 veterans and helps many combat physical and mental challenges as they settle back into life after service.
