DALLAS — Most of North Texas, including Dallas, Tarrant and Collin counties, is under a heat advisory Saturday as temperatures soar — and severe storms may also be in the forecast.
The National Weather Service in Fort Worth said the heat index — a measure that incorporates the temperature and the humidity — could reach 105 to 115 degrees Saturday.
The heat advisory, which lasts until 8 p.m. Sunday, urges people to take precautions when spending time outdoors. Counties to the southeast of Dallas-Fort Worth care under an excessive heat warning, which says to expect “dangerously hot conditions.”
According to KXAS-TV (NBC5), Dallas-Fort Worth can expect a high of 95 degrees Saturday. The weather service is urging people to stay hydrated and limit time outdoors.
High temperatures are expected to remain in the 90s throughout the week and could reach triple digits.
Scattered thunderstorms are expected to approach the Interstate 35 corridor around 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, bringing threats of large hail and damaging winds, according to the weather service.
