Sweet dog has owner in stitches as he returns from groomers looking like a llama

The owners of an adorable Westie dog have been left in hysterics after they picked up their pooch from the groomers, only to find he had been given a strange new haircut that left him looking more like a llama than a dog.

Mac, a West Highland White Terrier, was booked in for a day-long pamper session and a summer trim to stop him from overheating in the warm weather, but his owners weren't expecting him to come back with a large fluffy tail and completely trimmed down face.

Lucy Huber shared pictures of the dog's bizarre transformation online, where she explained Mac belongs to her parents and she was simply posting the images so that others could get a good chuckle out of them too.

The writer, from Washington DC, US, said: "My parents took their dog to a new groomer and I guess they'd never groomed a Westie before. I'm crying.

"This haircut is literally so bad people are trying to say these are photos of two different dogs and it's literally both photos of my parents' dog.

"We also don't understand how they got his hair to look this way. We are mostly baffled by his tail which has never been puffy before."

Commenters on Lucy's post were also baffled by the unique look of the Westie after his trim, as one fellow dog groomer declared the trim was "really bad" and insisted the groomer who trimmed the dog should have used the internet to help them find the appropriate cut.

They wrote: "Oh my god. I'm dying. I've been a groomer for 15 years and this is really bad.

"If I'm unsure of the particulars of a style cut, I have a cool book that helps me. Also this new thing called the internet. They tried to do a schnauzer haircut for some reason and even failed that."

And others were simply left laughing, with many pointing out that the trim would be perfect if Mac was a llama and not a dog.

One person said: "This is why I'm too nervous to groom my Westie myself. Makes for a wonderful Llama look though."

While another added: "I'm confused why they didn't at least do the body as short as the face."

And a third wrote: "Oh poor baby that is undignified and truly fantastic."
