Sweaty Betty's Power Leggings are among the best you can buy. Digital Health Editor Grace Walsh has had her pair for over two years and can confirm they're comfortable and easily pass the squat test. They're durable and don't fade in quality or colour over time.
"While the light material was perfect for a yoga session, I put Sweaty Betty’s 90% squat-proof promise to the test with a gym workout - and I can confirm these leggings passed with flying colours. The sweatier they get, the more skin feel they offer, delivering extra stretch and comfort as your workout progresses," Grace says.
There was one downside, however: visible sweat on the material before the first wash. "I haven't seen this again post-first wash so I'd recommend giving these a spin in the machine to break them in first if you care about sweat patches during your session," she says.
A great all-rounder, the Power Leggings are perfect for any kind of workout and great for every day. The initial outlay might seem high for a pair of gym leggings, but the quality and longevity you'll get from these makes them excellent value for money.

Sweaty Betty's Athlete Seamless Gym vest top is a staple in many a gym-goers wardrobe. I own a couple of these tops, and love how comfortable and supported it makes me feel in the gym. Fitted and flattering, it creates a lovely silhouette, and the sweat-wicking fabric makes it the gym top I favour for more intense workouts.
I'm a big fan of the length, which is longer than many other gym vests I've come across recently. The length reaches my hips nicely, providing extra coverage for my stomach and bum, and it doesn't ride up, so I'm not constantly pulling it back down mid-workout. The quality is evident when wearing, but also in care too. One of the two I own I've had for years, and yet it remains one of my all-time favourite gym wear pieces.
Given the quality and how long they last, the RRP of £40 is well worth it, so when this pops up in the sale with money off, you're getting even more of a bargain.

It's not surprising Sweaty Betty's Power Medium sports bra is a bestseller – it's one of the best high-impact sports bras we've tried - and we've tried a lot. At a basic level, it does what it is supposed to, supports your chest while exercising, and with the correct fit, leaves very little room for your boobs to move about. Somehow, it also does this comfortably and looks great too.
The sweat-wicking material keeps you cool and is quick-drying to help keep any delightful boob sweat at bay. The scoop neck is flattering and the T-bar back really elevates the whole piece. For best fit, the Sweaty Betty website recommends sizing down which, owning one personally, I would agree with. The bra includes padding but this can be removed, depending on your preference. The design offers medium-level support and does so well, but if you need more, there are plenty of amazing options in our round-up of the best sports bras for large breasts.

These versatile cycling-style shorts sit among the best running shorts for women and are the tried and tested favourite of our digital health editor, Grace. Blending style and practicality, they are high-waisted, measure 6" on the inseam, and have three pockets for storing your essentials safely.
"I love how comfortable these shorts are. I wear mine running, in the gym, and on shorter rides, and never once have I had an issue with them. The high waistband doesn't roll down thanks to the adjustable pull cord and they are long enough not to ride up, even if you're a bit taller like me," she says.
"Much like the Sweaty Betty Power Leggings, the Power Shorts are made of a material blend that almost feels like a second skin when you get sweaty, which prevents chafing and discomfort," she adds.
When is the Sweaty Betty sale on?
You'll always find deals on Sweaty Betty clothing direct on the website or via stores like The Sports Edit and Next - but we're expecting to see the next online-wide sale in the early summer.
I've covered sportswear sales for the past four years and I can confidently say it's worth shopping when you see a deal you like though, as there's no guarantee the same saving will be available in the days, weeks, or months to come.
The biggest sale of the year is on Black Friday, which normally comes around in November or early December. The official dates haven't been confirmed yet - but we'll keep this page up to date with all the best offers every month to keep you in the loop until then.
When is the Sweaty Betty Black Friday sale?
The Sweaty Betty Black Friday sale tends to be on the last weekend of November or very early December.
Last year, it fell on November 29 and the Sweaty Betty sale had up to 60% off across items, including some of its bestsellers. We often find the bestsellers in the sale are in non-staple colours and prints, e.g. bright pink and leopard print, rather than black. Yet, I saw more and more of these staple items with money off during Black Friday.
Why is Sweaty Betty so expensive?
Sweaty Betty is a luxury brand, which means its products are high quality, expertly designed, long-lasting, and stand up to the purpose of seeing you through any workout. Its sustainable policy also contributes to the cost, with clothing made from materials like organic cotton and Lenzing™ Modal, which are biodegradable.
Sweaty Betty spokeswoman Katie Stratton once told Business Insider the reason for the brand's higher prices was down to its "up-to-date technology," such as sweat-wicking fabric.
"Sweaty Betty’s ethos is to empower women through fitness by ensuring that they have both stylish and incredibly technical fitness wear," Stratton said. "Our design and buying teams ensure that our product offering includes the most up-to-date technology, which is what sets us apart from our competitors."
Are Sweaty Betty leggings worth it?
The answer to this, in ours (and many others') opinions is a resounding yes. The large majority of the woman&home team own Sweaty Betty leggings, and all agree that while they don't come cheap, they are excellent value for money. The quality and support is evident immediately, as is the confidence they provide knowing they are not in the least bit see through, and the specially made fabric keeps you as cool and as comfortable as possible during a workout.
Another thing the woman&home team agreed on was these leggings are not just great for the gym, but brilliant for everyday wear too. We recently took a deep dive on a number of features of the brand in a Sweaty Betty vs Lululemon comparison, which might be helpful in deciding which luxury activewear brand is right for you.
Should you size up or down for Sweaty Betty?
Sweaty Betty is very good at suggesting what size you should opt for when buying individual products in the features section on its website. For example, the sports bra we mentioned in the sale above says you should size down for the perfect fit.
The woman&home team has every item you could think of collectively, all of whom say the suggestion on the website is one they all follow and 99% of the time the fit is correct. But if not, Sweaty Betty will happily exchange any incorrect sizes fuss-free.
