Swiss watchmaker Swatch calls on anime fans to visit its stores and meet characters from Dragon Ball Z.

The Japanese series portrays the adventures of Goku -- one of the last Saiyans and Earth's primary defender against intergalactic threats.

The original series followed his childhood into adulthood while Dragon Ball Z introduces his son Gohan, the first Saiyan-human hybrid born on Earth who achieves Super Saiyan form at a young age.

Antagonists include Cell, an artificial life-form created to exact revenge on Goku; Majin Buu, who is able to turn his adversary into a cookie; and Frieza, who battles with Goku and his friends, leading to the transformation of Goku as a Super Saiyan.

Vegeta is the prince of the fallen Saiyan race, who gains a good heart after fighting with Goku; while Kamesennin is a martial arts master and inventor of the Kamehameha technique.

The seven characters inspire the designs of the Swatch x Dragon Ball Z collection.

For instance, the vivid orange and black Big Bold watch recalls the colours of Goku's outfits, the dial features the Japanese symbol for his name, and the strap back has a Kintoun, a mysterious nimbus cloud.

Gohan's model is a New Gent featuring a Kamehameha energy lightning design, with the front strap bearing the patch given to him by his trainer Piccolo, while the reverse has elements of his childhood outfit.

Kamesennin's face and sunglasses occupy the dial of another New Gent, whose backside is inspired by his Aloha shirt.

A yellow dial with a black M evokes Majin Buu's gold belt while the purple and pink underside of the Gent watch references his cape and belly.
