Chicago police SWAT teams responded to a home in Lake View on Tuesday afternoon after a man shot two dogs moving toward him in a nearby alley, according to police.
About 1:45 p.m., the man, 53, entered an alley from a home in the 1000 block of West Oakdale Avenue where a woman was with two dogs without leashes, police said.
As the man moved away from the dogs, they continued to “aggressively move toward him,” officials said. The man, who has a valid concealed carry license, shot both dogs, police said.
A SWAT team responded to the area where the man was armed and inside a home, authorities said.
The dogs were taken to separate veterinary clinics where one succumbed to its injuries, officials said.
No citations were issued.
