Chatham SWAT response ends after no gunman found — hours after SWAT responds to Northwestern Memorial for phone threat

A Chicago police SWAT team responded to a second unfounded call Sunday evening in the Chatham neighborhood — hours after the SWAT team was called to Northwestern Memorial Hospital downtown for a phone threat.

The incident in Chatham began around 10:45 p.m. when someone told police a person was barricaded with a gun in a building in the 8200 block of South Langley Avenue, police said.

After further investigation, police determined there was no gunman and did not enter the building, police said.

No other details were released.

A couple of hours earlier, Northwestern Memorial Hospital was placed on lockdown after someone phoned in a threat, according to officials.

The hospital then went into lockdown and a SWAT team responded, police said. The building was deemed safe at 10:20 p.m., police said.
