Swansea's main fireworks has been announced and it's going to be on a barge in the bay

Swansea Bay fireworks are back for 2022 but with a twist. The event is free to attend and the fireworks will illuminate the gorgeous Swansea Bay.

For the first time ever, the display will be offshore on a barge in the sea, illuminating the waters of the bay as the fireworks burst in the sky. This will create a new and exciting firework display for onlookers to enjoy.

There will also be pre-show entertainment including a fire show, glow entertainers, and walkabout acts. You will also be able to enjoy some food at the event. You can keep up to date with the latest What's On news by signing up to the newsletter here.

The firework display will take place on Saturday, November 5. The pre-show entertainment will start at 6pm and the firework display will begin at 7pm.

There will be road closures on the night with Oystermouth Road/Mumbles Road from Glamorgan Street to Brynmill Lane and on Pantycelyn Road between Dyfed Avenue and Townhill Road closed from 5pm to 9pm. Swansea Council has recommended that the best points to view the fireworks are from the Prom and the beach between the Civic Centre and Brynmill Lane.

Swansea Council has explained due to the cost of living crisis they have decided to make the event free to attend. Swansea Council cabinet member Robert Francis-Davies said: “We deliver great events for the people of Swansea to enjoy and this is a key event in our annual programme. It’s safe and, because of the challenge on household budgets this year, we’ve decided to make it a free event once again. "

The display last year attracted around 30,000 visitors so you might want to consider heading down early to grab the best spot. There are also other firework displays taking place across Wales which you can read more about here.
