Swansea City unveil new away kit for 2022/23 season with a firm nod to a cult classic

Swansea City have unveiled their new away kit for the 2022/23 Championship season.

Hot on the heels of the home strip, which was released yesterday, the Swans have revealed their away colours for the forthcoming campaign - and they've gone retro.

The orange, blue and white design is a firm nod to the Swans’ cult away kit used between 1993 and 1995. An adult jersey costs £48.

The body of the shirt is ‘golden poppy’ orange with royal blue trim, with the sleeves seeing those colours incorporated with white for a patterned finish.

The design is completed by blue shorts, while the golden poppy socks feature royal blue and white trim. The goalkeepers' shirt is yellow with a black trim.

While the home shirt is sponsored by award-winning residential property developer Westacres, their change outfit has Swansea University's logo emblazoned on it, with the relationship between the two parties carrying on from last season.

Swansea Building Society, meanwhile, will be displayed on the back of the shirt.

Kit makers Joma have used an updated version of last season's badge, which was a take on the classic crest used between 1992 and 1997.

"We believe these new kits – as well as our home designs revealed earlier this week – represent a blend of the three key elements of what it means to be a Jack," wrote the club on their website.

"They are a strong pride in the rich history and heritage of our club and city, a desire for a bright, successful, sustainable future, and a strong identity that will see us do things our way – the Swansea Way – on the field under head coach Russell Martin and his staff.

"Our History. Our Future. Our Way. Ein Hanes. Ein Dyfodol. Ein Ffordd."

The home strip received a generally favourable response from the fanbase, with supporters torn on the new collar on a shirt which takes inspiration from the classic kit from the 1992/93 campaign.
