Swansea City transfer news as target destined for Leeds United exit amid Newcastle and West Ham interest and Preston pull out of striker race

Here's your round-up of all the latest Swansea City news for Sunday, December 4.

Premier League trio chase Drameh

Leeds United youngster Cody Drameh is reportedly attracting interest from several Premier League sides ahead of the January transfer window.

According to TeamTalk, the full-back appears to be destined for an exit from Elland Road after talks over a new deal broke down.

Newcastle United, West Ham United and Crystal Palace have all reportedly shown an interest, along with Bundesliga sides RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund. There is also believed to have been interest from France and Italy.

Drameh, who spent last season on loan at Cardiff City, has admirers at Swansea City, who offered to take the youngster on a season-long loan back in the summer, only to see their approach knocked back by Leeds United, who seemingly prefer a permanent move. Given the number of clubs chasing his signature, it seems unlikely the Swans will look to revive their interest any time soon.

Preston out of Langstaff race

Preston North End boss Ryan Lowe insists he has no interest in Notts County hotshot Macaulay Langstaff, amid reported interest from Swansea.

The 25-year-old has been in white-hot form in the National League, netting 19th goals so far this season.

His goalscoring exploits have unsurprisingly seen the striker linked with a move further up the pyramid ahead of the January window, with Preston among several Championship sides to have been credited with interest over the World Cup break. However, Lowe has now ruled out a move.

According to our colleagues at LancashireLive, Lowe told Sky Sports on Saturday: “The local papers around Preston, they try and get a bit of information don’t they, but I can categorically tell you he’s not on my radar.”

WalesOnline understands Cardiff have taken a closer look at Langstaff in recent weeks, but the level of interest from Swansea isn't yet clear at this stage. Bristol City are another side to have been mentioned as possible admirers in recent weeks.

Martin hails important week

Swansea head coach Russell Martin says his squad have given themselves a strong platform to attack the second half of Championship action, after rounding off their training camp in Scotland with a 2-0 win over Dundee United on Saturday.

Goals from Jamie Paterson and Ryan Manning proved enough to give the Swans a deserved win at Tannadice, and Martin believes their exploits in Scotland will stand them in good stead heading into the rest of the Championship season.

"I think the week has given us a really nice platform to build off," he said. “I think we have utilised the break in the best possible way. This break has gone even better than we hoped it would in terms of the togetherness of the group on and off the pitch.

“Across the players and staff, everyone has bought into it. The feeling in the group is incredible. I think it has made a big difference.

“There were some fantastic things that we will show the boys on Monday, and there will still be things to work on. But it’s been a really good day, and a really good week.”

Swans held on derby day

Swansea City Ladies were held to a draw at home to Cardiff City Women in a closely-fought South Wales derby at the Swansea.com Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

More than 1,300 fans were in attendance for the hosting of the defending Adrian Premier champions, with the Swans taking the lead just after half-time. A well-worked through-ball from Stacey John-Davis found Katy Horsford, who made no mistake to hand her side the lead.

But Cardiff hit back 20 minutes from time, as Phoebe Poole looped a terrific effort into the net to deny the Swans the chance to close the five-point gap on their bitter rivals at the top of the table.
