Swansea City transfer news as stance on Stoke City man revealed and Watford business could spark Joel Piroe trouble

Your latest Swansea City headlines for Tuesday, August 23.

Fox stance confirmed

Morgan Fox is not on Swansea's radar at present, WalesOnline understands.

The Swans were among a clutch of Championship clubs to be linked with the Stoke City defender this week. However, a source has stated the club are not exploring the option of signing the Welshman.

The report stated Swansea - along with Reading and Sunderland - have made an enquiry into the availability of the 28-year-old.

The former Wales Under-21 international - who has just entered the final year of his contract at Stoke - can operate at left-back or in the centre of defence.

Fox's sole appearance for the Potters this season came in his side's Carabao Cup clash with Morecambe on August 9 while he has been included in just one of Stoke's matchday squads in the Championship this term.

Hornets' business to have Piroe impact?

Watford's continued transfer business could yet have an impact on the future of Joel Piroe.

The Hornets have explored the option of signing the Swansea striker this summer but have so far fallen short of making any kind of bid for the Dutchman.

Rob Edwards' side have already offloaded forwards including Josh King, Andre Gray, Cucho Hernandez and Emmanuel Dennis of late while Newcastle United and Everton are reportedly battling it out to recruit Joao Pedro. Ismaila Sarr has also attracted interest, with Aston Villa previously keen on signing the Senegalese attacker.

Much will depend on the futures of Sarr and Pedro at Vicarage Road, although Watford could well revive their interest in Piroe - who is yet to score in his five appearances for Swansea this season - in the final days of the summer transfer window.

Grey thrilled with U21s comeback

Jon Grey praised the resilience of his Under-21 side after they scored two late goals to earn a draw against Crewe Alexandra at the Swansway Stadium.

The visitors looked on course for victory courtesy of goals from Matus Holicek and Joel Tabiner. However, Josh Thomas and Seb Dabrowski both struck late on to clinch a 2-2 draw.

And Grey lavished praise on his players for the way they fought back in the game.

"It was a real good performance, the boys stuck to it and stuck to the way we want to play. We are disappointed that we conceded twice but they showed fantastic resilience to come back from that," Grey told the club website.

"We are actually little disappointed that we haven't won the game. We had a number of chances, but it's taken us until late on to convert any of them.

"I just told the players to keep doing what they were doing, we had control of the game for long periods. We started off great but a couple of errors have cost us.

"They are young players, they'll get to learn how to stop that happening. They came back really strongly, they did not give up and they kept playing our way.

"Credit to the boys, they kept going to the game plan. They eventually got the equaliser and a point was the least we deserved."
