Swansea City transfer news as Rangers plot fresh Whittaker move, Burnley take Obafemi decision and pundit says Potter should be axed

These are your Swansea City headlines on Sunday, February 19.

Rangers plot fresh Whittaker move

Football Insider report that Rangers remain in touch with Morgan Whittaker's camp after having three bids knocked back in January.

The Scottish giants are firm admirers of the young Swansea forward, who was recalled from his loan stint at Plymouth Argyle at the start of the year.

A move to Ibrox could not be finalised last month and since then Whittaker has been limited to cameos off the bench for Russell Martin's side.

Rangers are plotting a fresh move for the 22-year-old this summer, with Martin set to perform a squad overhaul with Michael Obafemi set to make his loan move to Burnley permanent, report the Sun.

Darling: 'Horrible' way to lose

Defender Harry Darling says losing to Blackburn Rovers in the manner Swansea City did was "horrible".

The young centre-back echoed his manager's sentiments from Sheffield United last weekend, urging his team-mates to cut out "sloppy moments" which seem to be plaguing the side at present.

Swansea conceded late in a game once again and this unfortunate trait is something that needs to be stamped out, says Darling.

“It’s a horrible end to the game. I didn’t think we deserved to lose,” said Darling.

“I thought we defended well on the whole, obviously apart from the goal.

“But these are the moments. It probably sums up our season really, we’re sloppy in these moments and it’s costing us games.

“We just have to stick together and the beauty of this league is that we can go again against Stoke on Tuesday and put it right.

“Tuesday’s game is the only thing we can focus on now. We’ll reflect on this game, analyse it and see what went wrong and what we did well.

"We'll make sure we’re ready to go again on Tuesday.”

Potter under fire

Former Swansea manager Graham Potter is under increasing pressure at Chelsea after the Blues suffered a 1-0 defeat to home to bottom club Southampton.

However, the Mirror report that owner Todd Boehly has no intention of sacking Potter, despite the club languishing in 10th place - 10 points off the Champions League places.

Potter has failed to live up to expectations since his switch from Brighton and talkSPORT pundit Gabby Agbonlahor believes he should be let go.

"He should be sacked for that post-match interview," said Agbonlahor after hearing Potter reference a number of injuries in his squad as a reason behind yesterday's defeat.

"What's he talking about? You're playing against a team that are in disarray, they've not got a manager, they can't get back-to-back wins together and you're complaining that you've had to bring [Mykhailo] Mudryk off the bench, you've had to start Felix, Are you joking me?"
