Swansea City transfer news as Brentford weighing up recall for full-back and boss gives warning over striker target

Here's your round-up of all the latest Swansea City news for Wednesday, December 28.

Brentford set to recall Stevens

Brentford are reportedly ready to recall full-back Fin Stevens from his loan spell at Swansea in January. The 19-year-old has made just five appearances since signing on a season-long loan for the Swans on the final day of the summer transfer window, and hasn't been involved in the last three matchday squads.

Now, according to West London Sport, the Bees are ready to recall the youngster. The report claims Stevens will likely be brought back on board to provide injury cover for the rest of the season, with his situation then set to be reassessed at the end of the current campaign.

Swansea issued warning on Langstaff

Notts County boss Luke Williams insists it will take "something incredible" to prise star striker Macaulay Langstaff from Meadow Lane, amid links with Swansea. The forward has netted 21 goals in 23 games for the Magpies, and has subsequently become one of the hottest properties in the National League.

WalesOnline understands Cardiff have also been watching the 25-year-old, although the strength of interest from the Swans isn't yet clear. In any case, Williams insists it will take a significant offer to snap up the striker.

"It's obvious for us, these things are going to happen, but it is one thing being linked and another being serious," he told the Nottingham Post. "Before Macaulay came to Notts County he was linked with everyone, teams in League One, League Two, the National League, but we were the club that were most serious. We are the club that made it happen, it is one thing to be talked about and speculated but another thing to be really serious about that.

"Macca is in a brilliant place, he has a team around him that adore him and a team that try to give him opportunities to score. He is having a fantastic season, so for Macca to leave the club at this point, it would have to take something incredible."

Whittaker aiming for double figures

Morgan Whittaker says he's aiming to reach double figures for the season after netting his eighth goal of the campaign in Plymouth Argyle's 1-0 win over Cheltenham Town at Whaddon Road on Boxing Day.

It is a result which puts the Pilgrims two points ahead of Ipswich Town at the top of League One, with the goal from the 21-year-old Swans loan signing also ending a run of eight games without scoring.

Whittaker told Plymouth Live: "It was just a relief. I had not scored for a few games so I would have taken a tap-in. Luckily, it was a good goal and it was in front of the fans as well so I could show my appreciation for them coming and everyone could celebrate together.

"I agree with what the gaffer [Steven Schumacher] says, I need to score more tap-ins, but I will take those kind of goals as well. Any goal is a good for me. I was just thankful to score and hopefully I can start a new run. If I get into double figures then that's my target done."

Martin swerves Norwich speculation

Russell Martin has refused to be drawn on reports linking him with the vacant post at former employers Norwich City.

The Canaries parted company with Dean Smith earlier this week, and Martin is one of several names to be mentioned as a possible option. It is not the first time Martin has been tipped for the job at Carrow Road, although he has previously insisted he is happy to stay in south Wales.

Speaking after the defeat to Reading on Tuesday night, Martin played speculation of a return to Norfolk with the straightest of straight bats.

“My only thoughts are that I’m really sorry for Dean that he loses his job,” said Martin, via Pink Un. “I hate the fact that in this game someone loses their job, and rather than talk about that, the first thing someone wants to talk about is who’s going to replace him. So that’s it.”
