Boss delighted after Obafemi scouting mission
Stephen Kenny admits Michael Obafemi's performances for Swansea in the latter stages of the 2021/22 season were the best of any of his Republic of Ireland strikers.
The forward initially struggled to make an impact in south Wales after joining from Southampton, scoring just once in his first 14 appearances for the Swans. But he has excelled in 2022, scoring 11 times in his final 19 outings of the campaign for Swansea.
The 21-year-old continued his fine run by registering a sublime assist while also scoring his first international goal in stunning fashion in a man-of-the-match display against Scotland on Saturday. And Kenny lavished praise on the young frontman after his performance at Dublin's Aviva Stadium.
“He had two significant moments in the game," he said. "His assist for Troy’s [Parrott] header was a great bit of combination play between the two players.
“We’ve had some good passages of play in other games, and that was a moment of brilliance. But his goal was a moment of immense quality. It was great to see it hit the back of the net. I watched him play a lot towards the end of the season and his performances for Swansea were the best of all our strikers.”

Page expects Allen wait
Rob Page admits Joe Allen may have to wait to find the right move for his career following the expiration of his contract with Stoke City.
The Swans are keen to re-sign the midfielder who is now a free agent, although the Potters recently confirmed they have held talks with Allen over the possibility of extending his stay in Staffordshire. And despite suffering a hamstring injury in Wales' 1-1 draw with Belgium on Saturday - an issue that will keep him out of the Nations League clash with Netherlands on Tuesday night - Page believes Allen will have no problems when it comes to finding himself a new club ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
"Any club is an option for him," said Page. "He's got options on the table.
"He might have to wait a little bit. We know he'll be playing football next season, it's just a matter of finding out where." You can read Page's comments on Allen in full here.

University partnership continues
Swansea have confirmed Swansea University will be the club’s front-of-away-shirt partner for the 2022/23 season.
The club have forged a strong relationship with the university over recent years and will carry its logo on their travel and training wear next season in addition to having it emblazoned on the away jerseys.
Swansea City’s head of commercial, Rebecca Edwards-Symmons, said: “We are thrilled that Swansea University will adorn our away kit for the 2022-23 season, after fantastic feedback from our supporters.
“Swansea University is completely aligned with our business, and the long-standing joined up way of working is clear for our community to see. We have an excellent relationship with Swansea University and are looking forward to continuing our partnership.”
It comes after the Swans announced Westacres as the club's front-of-home-shirt sponsor for the upcoming Championship campaign.
