Here's your round-up of all the latest Swansea City headlines for Thursday, May 5.
Pompey braced for Harness interest
Portsmouth are reportedly bracing themselves for an approach from Swansea City for winger Marcus Harrness.
According to The News, the Swans have held an interest in the 26-year-old since January, with the same report claiming that Blackburn Rovers have also been keeping tabs on the situation. The Blues are believed to be ready to respond by activating the option for a further 12 months on his current deal, but he could well remain a figure of interest to suitors in the second tier.
Harness has scored 31 goals in 134 appearances since arriving from Burton back in the summer of 2019, and netted 12 times in League One this season. Reports on the south coast have also claimed that the club rejected an offer from an unnamed club back in January.
It's not clear whether that club was Swansea, but boss Russell Martin is believed to be keeping tabs on his progress.
Swans face competition for Sorinola
Swansea City could face competition some stiff competition if they want to sign Union SG full-back Matthew Sorinola.
Sources have told WalesOnline that Swansea have held an interest in the 21-year-old left-back since January, with Russell Martin believed to be a keen admirer, having worked with him closely at MK Dons. Sorinola made 43 appearances under the current Swans boss last season before leaving for Belgium on a free transfer.
It remains to be seen whether the player would be available this summer, with Union understood to be reluctant to agree to a permanent move. Even so, several sides are believed to have taken an interest, including two from Scotland and an unnamed Premier league club.
But Sorinola is believed to be a huge fan of Martin's methods, and that relationship could yet be a factor if a deal was deemed feasible. Union, currently in the mix for their first league title for nearly 90 years, believe him to be a bright prospect for the future, and may yet be persuaded by a loan move this summer, but there isn't believed to be anything concrete on the table at this stage.
Marosi links dismissed
Shrewsbury Town goalkeeper Marko Marosi is not currently on Swansea City's radar, despite links with a move to south Wales.
A report on the In the Stiffs podcast seemed to claim that a move for the keeper was effectively a done deal, but club sources and reports in Shropshire have moved to pour cold water on those suggestions. Swansea certainly are looking for a new goalkeeper, with Steven Benda seemingly likely to follow Ben Hamer out the door this summer.
However, the Shropshire Star claims the Slovakian is fully focused on succeeding at his current club.
Blues yet to make decision on Ampadu
Chelsea have not yet made any decision on whether to send Ethan Ampadu out on loan again next season, amid recent links with Swansea City.
Ampadu is currently on loan at struggling Serie A side Venezia, and has produced some impressive recent performances despite his side facing up to relegation back to Serie B. The Welshman's focus is understandably currently on trying to keep his team in the top flight, but speculation over his next move has seemingly already begun.
Reports elsewhere suggested that Chelsea have already decided to send the 21-year-old on loan for next season, adding that Swansea, Bournemouth, Middlesbrough, Huddersfield and Norwich City are among those taking an interest. However, sources have indicated to WalesOnline that no such decision has yet been made, adding that there's still a chance Ampadu will be a part of Thomas Tuchel's first-team plans next season.
The mass upheaval at Stamford Bridge is unsurprisingly expected to be a factor in what might happen next, although it's unlikely there will be any movement on his future until after Wales' crucial World Cup play-off final with either Scotland or Ukraine next month. Ampadu already has 33 international caps to his name, and will surely be a big part of Rob Page's plans as they bid to make their first World Cup since 1998.
Should he become available, there would likely be plenty of suitors, although Swansea, or indeed any team in the Championship, will likely face an uphill task in convincing Ampadu to drop back down in the second tier after such an accomplished season in the Italian top flight. Indeed, while not categorically ruling out a swoop, sources in SA1 have already cast doubt on the likelihood of a move to south Wales.
