Paterson's potential big decision
Jamie Paterson will have a "big decision to make" should he remain a Swansea player beyond the January transfer window.
The attacker has missed all four of his side's matches in 2022 due to a contract dispute with the club's owners.
He is set to miss Saturday's contest with Hull City at The MKM Stadium -which comes just two days before deadline day.
And while Russell Martin says the door will remain open for the 30-year-old to feature for the Swans after January, the head coach admits Paterson will need to make a decision regarding his contract if he does not secure a move away from the club.
"He has a big decision to make. If he carries on doing what he does for the next four months, it’s really tough. And then he still has a year left on his contract," said Martin.
"Now will be the time where he has more options than he would do in the summer if he hasn’t played football for six months, so the dynamic changes completely, I think that’s clear and obvious.
"At this minute in time, he’s finding it really tough, the whole situation. If he’s still here on Tuesday we’ll have a chat about it and see what the best way to move forward is.
"There’s been no falling out between me and Pato. There’s a way back for Pato, the door is always open for him when he decides he’s in the right frame of mind once the window shuts if he’s still here.
"He’s a brilliant person. He’s not trying to hold anyone to ransom. I feel he’s had a lot of noise around him that hasn’t helped one bit, he knows how I feel about that. People around him know how I feel about that."
Reports suggest Swansea have turned down two bids from QPR for Paterson.
Martin's Cooper admission
Swansea have received offers from clubs to take Brandon Cooper on loan.
The defender was hugely impressive during his stint with Newport County in the opening half of the 2020/21 campaign before being recalled by the Swans.
The Wales Under-21 international has made eight first team appearances in all competitions under Russell Martin so far this term, although Kyle Naughton is the preferred option at the centre of Swansea's back three at present.
And head coach Martin has revealed the academy product could secure a loan move away from Swansea before Monday's 11pm deadline if they can find a club that suits his development.
"We’ve had offers for a loan for Brandon. He’s not just going to go for the sake of it, it needs to be right for Brandon," explained the Swans boss.
"He’s in a position where he needs to play, he came in for a couple of games for us and did brilliantly.
"For someone who had no pre-season and was out for so long, he has a brilliant mentality.
"The big part of this football club is promoting from the academy then helping these players develop and get experience elsewhere and letting other teams aid their development is really key if they’re not playing here.
"They’ve had six months with us, they know what is expected, they have clarity and then they can go out and deliver the intensity that is needed for someone else. Games, you learn so quickly are key.
"I think this club has been brilliant at helping develop other clubs’ players. We’ll have to assess that situation. If something comes up that is key for him and right for us and it fits all parties then he might go out and play. If he doesn’t he’s here and ready to be in the team at any point."
DC United in Dhanda frame?
Martin confirmed yesterday that an offer had been received for Yan Dhanda, with the midfielder likely to move on before Monday's deadline.
"We’ve had an offer for Yan to go and play football that he’d like to take up," said Martin.
"I think we’re getting closer with that. A lot of things can change.
"Nothing is concrete yet. I expect him to go out and play somewhere. He’s been great around the place and found it really tough not to be involved.
"We’ve been really honest with each other, he understands. He nearly went out in the summer window on loan but he wanted to stay and fight to try and get in.
"I think he just wants to go and play football now. I think it’ll be a loan because he’s out of contract in the summer so he wants to make sure he maximises every opportunity he has to go and play somewhere else."
WalesOnline understands that Burton Albion and Crewe Alexandra are in the frame, while Sky Sports report that MLS side DC United are also keen on the former Liverpool man.
Cullen settling in
Liam Cullen says he is enjoying his start to life on loan with Lincoln City.
The Wales youngster left SA1 in order to get game-time under his belt with the Imps.
He said: “I’m settling in really well and loving it to be fair, I’ve not long moved into an apartment and I’m nice and comfy there.
"I’m really enjoying the training, the EPC is great to go to every day and the other lads have been superb helping me and the other new boys settle in."
He added: "I was in digs in Swansea when I was 15. This is the furthest I’ve been away from home, but I was an hour away from Swansea so it’s not the first time I’ve been away from family and friends.
"I feel really comfortable here already, I’m enjoying my football and long may that carry on."
