Swansea City transfer headlines as Dhanda and Fulton exit updates emerge and German chief offers Hannes Wolf news

Your Swansea City headlines for Wednesday, January 19.

Exits latest

Swansea are yet to receive transfer interest for attacker Yan Dhanda, although Jay Fulton has been the recipient of offers from two Championship clubs.

Both players have been told they can leave the Swans this month having failed to force their way into Russell Martin's first team plans this term.

Fulton - who is contracted to the Swans until 2024 - has received offers from Blackpool and Barnsley, although Dhanda - whose Swans deal expires in the summer - has had no luck in finding a new club.

It comes as Rhys Williams is set to return to Liverpool before being sent back out on loan by the Reds.

Swansea have already seen Morgan Whittaker, Liam Cullen, Steven Benda, Dan Williams and Lewis Webb leave on loan this month while Ethan Laird and Jake Bidwell have also departed.

Jamie Paterson is another player who could secure a transfer away from the Swansea.com Stadium following a contract dispute with the club's owners.

German chief gives Wolf update

Borussia Mönchengladbach manager Adi Hütter has revealed Hannes Wolf is currently nursing a minor injury ahead of a proposed loan switch to Swansea.

The Swans are expected to make the Austrian their third signing of the January transfer window following the arrivals of goalkeeper Andy Fisher and defender Cyrus Christie.

Speaking ahead of his side's cup clash with Hanover, Hütter stated the 22-year-old was recovering from an injury before handing the reins of the press conference over to the club's sporting director Max Eberl.

"He completed rehabilitation training on Monday and was on that place," said Hütter.

"He's still slightly injured. But maybe Max can still say something about that."

And Eberl responded: "Something might happen in the next few days. We'll see when the time comes."

Austria Under-21 international Wolf joined Mönchengladbach from Red Bull Leipzig last year following a successful loan spell with the club.

He has made just eight appearances in all competitions for the German outfit so far this term - the most recent of which came against Bochum on October 31.

A farewell from Bidwell

Jake Bidwell has issued a heartfelt message of thanks to Swansea fans following his move to Coventry City.

The left-wing back completed a permanent switch to the Sky Blues earlier this week after two-and-a-half years in south Wales.

And the 28-year-old has taken to social media to say farewell to the Swans faithful.

"To the Jack Army. Thanks for everything in the last two-and-a-half years, I’ve loved every minute," he wrote on his official Instagram account.

"I’ve been proud to represent your club and your city and I hope that’s shown when I’ve pulled on the shirt.

"I wish the club and the city all the best with everything in the future. Thanks again, Bidders."

Bidwell made 105 appearances for Swansea, scoring three goals.

Lilywhites latest

Preston will be without Andrew Hughes due to suspension when they face Swansea on Saturday.

The Cardiff-born defender was sent off in his side's 2-2 draw with Sheffield United on Tuesday night for a foul on former Swan Rhian Brewster.

The Lilywhites will also be without Jordan Storey who has clinched a loan move to Sheffield Wednesday.

Despite going down to 10 men in the first half against the Blades, Preston came from 2-0 down to clinch a point which means they remain unbeaten in the league under Ryan Lowe.

“It gives loads of confidence, doesn’t it? That’s unbeaten in four league games, two wins and two draws so we need to continue that," said the PNE boss.

“We need to make sure we keep clocking up the points and see where it takes us. We want to try and get into that top half of the table as quick as we possibly can, and see where it takes us.

“That’s the belief we’ve got to have. We’ve got good footballers, I’ve said to the group in there. ‘You’re good footballers’, and we can get better on a daily basis and that’s certainly the message going forward.”

Kick-off in south Wales is at 3pm on Saturday.
