Grimes apologises to fans
Swansea skipper Matt Grimes has apologised to the fans who made the long trip to Hull City on Saturday.
A poor first-half performance saw the Swans head into the break 2-0 down and although things did improve in the second period, the game could not be salvaged.
Grimes says the result was "really disappointing" and paid tribute to the hearty souls who headed north to follow their team.
“It was really disappointing, I thought we were much better in the second half than the first half,” said Grimes.
“It’s been a pretty tough and busy week, and in the end it was just too much to do. Obviously, we improved in the second half, but overall it wasn’t enough.
“It’s not ideal for anyone to drive up such a way for this, so we apologise for the performance.”
Grimes is backing his team-mates to respond when they welcome Luton to SA1 on Tuesday night.
“That’s the beauty of the Championship, there’s always the opportunity to put things right,” he added.
“It’s going to be a tough game but we have to respond and we’ll look to get back to our regular ways.”
Garner delighted with Cooper capture
Swindon Town boss Ben Garner has revealed he had been working on signing Brandon Cooper for some time.
The Swans centre-back yesterday joined the League Two outfit on loan until the end of the season, a move that looks good for all parties.
Garner is looking forward to seeing what Cooper can bring to his team.
"That's one we've worked hard on for the last three weeks now," Garner said.
"That will be a really strong signing for us.
"Really good player, good defender, good communicator, very, very good on the ball, suits the way we play and Russell Martin was very, very keen for him to come here because it is a similar style of play to what they've got at Swansea.
"He'll be developed here and we're really excited."
Gomis signs for Gala
Former Swansea City striker Bafetimbi Gomis has rejoined Galatasaray.
The Frenchman was a free agent after his contract with Saudi Arabian team Al-Hilal came to an end.
The 36-year-old is believed to have penned a one-and-a-half-year deal with the Turkish giants.
Gomis played for Galatasaray in the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 seasons having left Swansea after three years in south Wales.
He scored 13 goals in more than 60 appearances for the Swans.
Woodman to head out on loan
Former Swansea loan man Freddie Woodman is set to leave Newcastle United ahead of Monday's 11pm deadline.
Woodman was close to joining Bournemouth at the start of the season but the move fell through due to an injury crisis at St James' Park.
The Cherries are believed to be heading the queue for the shot-stopper, who is eager to play first-team football.
Woodman got two years of game-time under his belt in south Wales but has failed to regularly break into the Magpies first XI this term, despite starting the first four games of the Premier League season.
