Swansea City news as former boss rejects Premier League job and academy celebrates further success

Here's your round-up of all the latest Swansea City news for Tuesday, April 4.

Potter rejects Leicester

Former Swansea City boss Graham Potter has reportedly rejected the chance to join Leicester City.

According to talkSPORT, the Foxes are long-term admirers of Potter, and reached out to his representatives following his sacking from Chelsea at the weekend.

Leicester had previously dismissed another ex-Swans boss in Brendan Rodgers just hours before Chelsea's decision.

However, it's believed that Potter is keen to take a break from football following his exit from Stamford Bridge.

Potter’s final match in charge of the Blues was a 2-0 defeat at home to Aston Villa, a result that leaves Chelsea 11th in the Premier League.

Swans under-21s aiming high after impressive win

Azeem Abdulai says Swansea City's under-21 want to keep up their recent standard of performances after producing an impressive performance to beat Hull City in the Professional Development League at the Swansea.com Stadium.

The Swans had got off to a dominant start and raced into a two-goal lead courtesy of Cameron Congreve and Ruben Davies, before the visitors pulled one back through Josh Hinds just before before half-time.

However, Abdulai's well-taken strike sealed the points for the Swans - their fifth win in six games.

“I thought the boys played really well,” said Abdulai.

“We’ve been in good form recently and we’ve just carried it on into this game.

“I was buzzing with my goal to be fair. I don’t score many but I thought I took it well and we were able to see the game out.

“I think as a team that [bigger pitch] suits us better. Because of the way we move the ball, I think it means we can tire the other teams out and, at the end of the games, it creates more space for us.

“Compared to last season where I think we only won five games, now we’re just setting our standards and we know what we want to achieve by the end of the season.”

Swans maul Tigers again

Staying with the academy. Swansea City's under-18s also claimed an impressive win over Hull City at Landore Training Ground on Tuesday morning.

Goals from Iwan Morgan, Rohan Davies and Thomas Woodward were enough to give the young Swans victory on the day.

Hull pulled a goal back through substitute Ronnie Kelly with 10 minutes to go, but it proved to be no more than a consolation.

Swansea City Under-18s: Evan Watts (captain) (Kit Margetson 45'), Arthur Parker, Richard Faakye, Jacob Cook (Sam Parker 73'), Jada Mawongo, Dan Watts, Thomas Searle (Filip Lissah 61'), Thomas Woodward (Ramon Rees-Siso 73'), Iwan Morgan, Rohan Davies (Kyrell Wilson 61'), Callum Deacon.

Hull City Under-18s: Tom Macauley, Sam Jackson, Trialist, Alfie Perry, Kyle Fanning (captain), Stan Ashbee, Ralph Nkomba, Sam Opoku, Glen Sani, Jaedyn Chibanga, Jake Brown (Ronnie Kelly 56').

Unused subs: Archie Howard, Lucas Dawson, Stan Hewitt.

Busby to take control of Coventry clash

John Busby will take charge of Swanse City's upcoming clash with Coventry City on Friday afternoon.

This will be the fifth time Busby has overseen a Swans fixture this season, with his last being the 1-1 draw with QPR back in January.

He will be assisted by Craig Taylor and Mark Russell, with Stephen Martin the fourth official.
