Wasiri Williams has become Dundalk’s seventh signing of the new season after switching from Swansea City.
The English centre-back has agreed a loan deal ahead of tomorrow night's League of Ireland transfer deadline.
Williams, 22, joined Swansea last summer and has captained their Under-21 side this season.
Before that, he had four years in English non-league football with Ashford United, Tunbridge Wells, Sheppey United, Hatcham, Braintree Town and Corinthian Casuals
Of his move to Oriel Park, Williams said: “I was with my family on Saturday when my agent called me about the opportunity and it was a quick transition.
“I wanted to come here and play and Swansea wanted me to come here and play so it was a thumbs up all around.
“I’m an aggressive centre-back who loves to tackle but I also like to play which is something I can hopefully bring to the team.”
Williams is Dundalk’s second signing of the week after Finnish midfielder Johannes Yli-Kokko moved on loan from HJK Helsinki on Monday.
Lilywhites boss Stephen O’Donnell said of his new defender: “He’s strong, he’s physical, he’s quick and he’s good on the ball so he has a lot of good attributes.”
