Swansea City dealt transfer deadline day hammer blow as move for West Brom's Karlan Grant collapses

Karlan Grant's proposed move to Swansea City from West Brom is off.

The striker was poised to join the Swans in the final stages of the January transfer window on loan for the remainder of the season.

However, the deal collapsed shortly after Tuesday's 11pm deadline.

WalesOnline understands the paperwork for the deal was completed on time while the documents were all signed in advance of the deadline.

Grant himself put pen to paper on the relevant documents at West Brom's training ground ahead of a proposed switch to the Swansea.com Stadium for the remainder of the season.

The two clubs are even understood to have made contact with each other in a bid to confirm a time to announce the deal.

But in a dramatic late twist, the Baggies pulled the plug on the deal.

It's understood Carlos Corberan's side were bidding to sign Omari Hutchinson on loan from Chelsea, although that deal collapsed.

It led to West Brom opting against sending Grant - who netted 18 goals in the Championship last season - to Swansea.
