A popular former chip shop which once fed thousands of college students in Swansea has gone up for sale. Maxim's fish and chips, located along Dillwyn Road in Sketty, was a popular haunt for students at what is now known as Gower College for generations.
Located a short walk away from the Tycoch Road campus, it would be commonplace to see droves of people heading down towards Sketty Cross to visit the restaurant for their lunch. The business, which also served Chinese and Cantonese food, would also be popular for takeaways in the evenings.
But the business has been closed for a significant period of time, and the opportunity has now arisen for someone to come forward and purchase the premises. It is currently being marketed by Astleys Chartered Surveyors with offers being considered in the region of £375,000. Aside from the restaurant itself, it also features living accommodation to the first floor.

In a description of the property, the listing reads: "Internally, the premises comprises a large ground floor retail unit, currently occupied for use as a hot food takeaway and restaurant, accommodating the main sales area and service counter to the front, which is also supported by ancillary accommodation to the rear including various preparation store rooms, a private office and catering kitchen.
"The remaining accommodation over the ground floor provides independent access to the owner’s residential accommodation over the first floor, via an internal stairwell to the left hand side elevation. The remaining ground floor accommodation also benefits from a small shower room, directly off the entrance foyer and hallway. The first floor, which has also been extended further to the rear, comprises four bedrooms, a large lounge/ dining area, bathroom and small utility room. However, it would appear that no domestic kitchen facilities are available over the upper floor."
