Thousands of people in south Wales will have their fingers crossed for sunshine this weekend, as the Swansea Airshow 2022 takes flight. Residents and visitors of all ages are set to flock to Swansea beach to watch some of the world's top aerobatics teams take to the skies to perform elaborate team sequences and flying manoeuvres, whilst on the ground there will be a wide range of charity, business and food and drink stands to enjoy.
After the Wales Air Show was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, many people have been looking forward to this year's event - which is taking place on Saturday, July 2 and Sunday, July 3 - for quite some time.
The star attraction will be the RAF Red Arrows, but there will also be impressive displays from Swansea's very own Team Raven, as well as the RAF Chinook Display Team, the Tigers Army Parachute Display Team and the Battle of Britain memorial flight. For more information on which teams will be performing, where to watch the action, and the road closures in place, read our previous article here.

Explaining what visitors could expect, organisers said: "Over two days, some of the best pilots and flying displays in the world use the natural amphitheatre of Swansea Bay to show their stuff, pulling off incredible aerial acrobatics. From jets to helicopters to the incredible Red Arrows, it’s two days of the year not to be missed. And, even better – it's free!
"But it’s not just in the air where you’ll see all the action – Swansea Prom will also be transformed with ground displays, delicious food and drink trucks, VR experiences, musicians and bands playing live music, demonstrations, family activities, rides and more!"
