Sydney veteran Josh Kennedy has been hit with a one-match suspension for striking Sam Docherty in the Swans' 15-point AFL loss to Carlton.
Kennedy caught Docherty high during the second quarter at Marvel Stadium on Friday night with a clumsy spoiling attempt that split open the Blues defender's head.
The match review officer graded the incident as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact.
Docherty was running back with the flight of the ball when he was hit by Kennedy.
He left the field under the blood rule immediately after the collision but returned to play out the match.
Kennedy wasn't so lucky, having torn his right hamstring in the same play.
The Swans co-captain was substituted out of the match and faces a lengthy stint on the sidelines, rendering the suspension inconsequential.
"It was a bad hamstring," Sydney coach John Longmire said.
"I don't think there's any such thing as a good hamstring (injury), but if they say it's a bad hamstring it's going to be quite a few weeks, you'd imagine."
A 15-season veteran, Kennedy turns 34 next month and is 11 games short of the 300-game milestone.
He is set to undergo scans over the weekend, with the full extent of the damage to be known in coming days.
Kennedy's teammate Chad Warner ($1000) and Carlton defender Liam Stocker ($1500) were also cited by the match review officer and fined for wrestling each other.
