Firefighters rescued four people, including a child, from a huge blaze at a disused office block in Sutton, south London.

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to Sutton Court Road at around 7.30pm on Friday.

“Around 16 square metres of rubbish outside the entrance was alight and a small part of the external fascia of the building was damaged by fire,” a statement from London Fire Brigade read.

“Firefighters rescued four people, including a child, from the rear flat roof of an adjoining building via a nine-metre ladder.”

There were no reports of any injuries and the cause of the fire is now under investigation.

The fire was under control by 8.30pm.
