Will Sutherland took the catch of the summer against the Sydney Thunder, but the Melbourne Renegades allrounder reckons it may not even be in his career top two.
Sutherland's specky to remove Sam Billings at Engie Stadium will live long in the highlights reels, after leaping high to dismiss the Englishman at mid on.
Sutherland moved fast to his right when Billings smashed a ball down the ground, before leaping to grab it one-handed after it looked to have passed him.
The allrounder is one of the best fielders in the BBL, but reckons the catch pales in comparison to one he took at Optus Stadium last year after getting out of position early.
He also believes a boundary effort he took against the Thunder two years ago in Canberra may have been the equal of the hanger he pulled off on Monday night.
"This one (on Monday) probably looked better, but I reckon the Perth catch was harder," Sutherland said.
"The footage of this one was better, but the Perth footage didn't do it justice. Happy with both.
"There was also one at Manuka a few years ago, running back with it. But I think the Perth one was probably the best."
Sutherland said Monday night's catch in the Renegades' eight-run loss to the Thunder was made slightly easier by how hard Billings hit the ball.
"I saw it pretty well off the bat and then you just have to dive and give yourself a chance and they either stick or they don't," Sutherland said.
"I had less time to think about it, you can't think about what can go wrong with that reaction time.
"I just had to make sure it stuck when it hit the ground, and lucky enough I pulled it off."
The Renegades' loss means they are now third on the ladder, as one of three teams with a 2-2 record after four games.
They face a desperate Adelaide Strikers side at home on Thursday, after they fell apart late in their chase against the Thunder on Monday.
"It would have been nice to be 3-1, we feel like we're that sort of team," Sutherland said.
"But we've got to take positives out of it. Laurie (Evans) batted really well, so it's good to take positives into the new year.
"A few of the boys are bowling really well as well. Tommy Rogers, Zamps (Adam Zampa). And the next game at home is real important for us."
