'Suspicious' incident causes shoppers to be evacuated from Tesco at Middlebrook Retail Park

Shoppers were evacuated from a Tesco supermarket in Horwich on Wednesday afternoon (February 8) due to a 'suspicious' incident. The alarm was raised at the Tesco Express store, beside Middlebrook Retail Park shortly before 1pm.

Police were called to the scene, after the superstore was evacuated and all shoppers were told to leave the building by staff as investigations were carried out.

'Extensive' searches were carried out for around two hours before it was later determined the public were not at risk and the doors were reopened.
