Shoppers were evacuated from a Tesco supermarket in Horwich on Wednesday afternoon (February 8) due to a 'suspicious' incident. The alarm was raised at the Tesco Express store, beside Middlebrook Retail Park shortly before 1pm.
Police were called to the scene, after the superstore was evacuated and all shoppers were told to leave the building by staff as investigations were carried out.
'Extensive' searches were carried out for around two hours before it was later determined the public were not at risk and the doors were reopened.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "Police were called to reports of suspicious circumstances at the Tesco Store in Horwich at 12:57pm today, Wednesday 8 February 2023.
"Staff at the store had evacuated members of the public as a precaution. An extensive search was carried out at the store and it was determined the store and the public were not at risk, and the doors were re-opened."
A Tesco spokesperson told the Manchester Evening News: "Our Horwich Extra store is open as normal after a brief closure early today. We apologise for any inconvenience."
