Suspended Reform UK MP has gun collection seized by police

SUSPENDED Reform UK MP Rupert Lowe has had his gun collection seized by police.

The Great Yarmouth MP, who was kicked out from the party over bullying allegations, had the weapons seized last month from his farm in the Cotswolds, the Express reports.

Lowe said he was co-operating fully with Gloucestershire Constabulary and vowed to clear his name, accusing Reform UK of trying to "smear" his name.

It comes as doubts have been cast over the credibility of an investigation which found "credible evidence of unlawful harassment of two women" by Lowe and "male members of his team".

Commenting on the police action, Lowe told the Express: “I am 67 years old, and I have a 67-year-long unblemished record with the law.

“These are false allegations, designed to maliciously smear my name and ruin my reputation after I dared to bruise Farage’s ego.

“The disruption to my life has been significant, with incredibly damaging and distressing consequences for my family – weaponising the police process to vindictively attack and silence a party colleague is unprecedented wickedness.

“Naturally, I have instructed a number of legal teams to pursue the relevant course of action. I am, of course, fully cooperating with the authorities, and look forward to clearing my name.”

A Reform UK spokesman said: “Mr Lowe is being investigated by the police for making multiple threats to kill our chairman. The first was in December, the second in February.

“Unlike Mr Lowe, we respect their investigation and will let them do their work without lashing out and making false claims in public.”

In January, Lowe publicly split with Reform UK leader Nigel Farage when he was endorsed as party leader by far-right billionaire Elon Musk.

The spat between the two continued and in March, Reform UK suspended Lowe and reported him to the police, accusing him of threatening violence towards party chairman Zia Yusuf.

The party said it had received evidence of "serious bullying" and "derogatory" remarks made about women in the MP's offices, which Lowe has denied.

An investigation was held into the claims made against Lowe, which found "credible evidence of unlawful harassment of two women" by Lowe and "male members of his team".

However, on Friday questions were raised over whether the investigation was conducted "independently of the influence" of Reform UK, in a review commissioned on behalf of Lowe.

Gloucestershire Police has been contacted for comment.
