Police cordoned off a city park after reports a wartime bomb had been found.
Pictures from the scene showed police and what appear to be bomb disposal officers working around the lake in Greenbank Park. Police officers were seen guarding the scene.
A cordon was also near the lake as bomb disposal units and police officers carried out enquiries. One eyewitness told the ECHO a 'bomb' was found by a man who was looking for his glasses.

They said: "I was walking the dog in Greenbank Park when I saw two lads in the lake. One had lost his glasses so he was looking for them, and that’s when he found the bomb.
"The next minute the police arrived and the park was shut off, with police telling people to stay away." Bomb disposal officers could also be seen shovelling near the lake near to where the item was found.
Merseyside Police was approached for comment.
