Suspected stolen Golf lands on graves after smashing through cemetery and flipping over

Dramatic pictures showed a suspected stolen car flipped over into its roof on some graves after it smashed through a cemetery.

The car crashed through some railings at the Southern Cemetery in Chorlton in the early hours of this morning (Monday). Photos taken at the scene showed the Volkswagen Golf completely flipped over onto its roof in the cemetery grounds.

The car landed across several graves. It appears to have damaged some in the smash.

Police said the Golf is suspected to have been stolen. When officers arrived at the scene, the car had been abandoned with nobody there.

No injuries have been reported so far from the crash, which happened near the junction of Nell Lane with Arrowfield Road at around 5.30am.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "The incident happened at around 5.30am. The car is a suspected stolen Volkswagen Golf.

"No injuries have been reported. No-one was there when officers arrived."
