A suspected grenade has been found during building works at a block of flats.

Merseyside Police are at the scene on Albert Road in Southport, after receiving a call at around 10.50am on Friday (June 24). Enquires are ongoing and a cordon is in place.

Albert Road is closed at the junctions with North Street and Alexander Road. People are asked to avoid the area.

Mum who mooned crowd of parents at school sports day responds to backlash

A mum who mooned crowds of parents after falling at a school sports day says she's "loving every minute" of her newfound fame.

Katie Hannaford, 36, went viral after a clip of her unfortunate moment appeared online. Katie was taking part in her child's school sports day when she faceplanted the floor and flashed her underwear.

Katie said: “It's gone crazy, I didn't expect this in the slightest. I can't put into words how I feel but I've been loving every minute - I've not stopped laughing since."

Police issue update after scrambler bike rider in 'Mexican standoff' causes chaos

Police have given an update after a scrambler bike rider held a 'Mexican standoff' on Crosby beach.

The rider caused chaos as police attempted to catch him on Crosby beach on Monday, April 18. Following the standoff, three men were arrested.

Witnesses gathered as the standoff continued, with some saying they saw police helicopters, drones and a number of police cars descend on the coast. Emergency services set up a containment area to try and catch the rider.
