Police have named a suspected drug dealer that used the EncroChat encrypted messaging platform.
Mark Murphy has been charged with conspiracy to supply class A drugs (namely heroin and cocaine), class B drugs (namely cannabis and cannabis resin). He has also been charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
The 39-year-old, of Field Lane, Litherland, is due to appear in court today, on Friday, July 7 in connection with the drug offences. The charge forms part of Operation Venetic which is the investigation into the use of the encrypted phones, also known as EncroChat.

A spokesperson for Merseyside police said: "A Litherland man has been charged with conspiracy to supply heroin, cocaine and cannabis using the EncroChat encrypted messaging platform.
"Mark Murphy, 39 years, of Field Lane, Litherland, has been charged with conspiracy to supply class A drugs (namely heroin and cocaine), class B drugs (namely cannabis and cannabis resin), as well as possession with intent to supply Class A drugs (cocaine).
"Murphy was remanded into custody and is due to appear at Wirral Magistrates Court today, Friday 7 July. The charge forms part of the Merseyside Police response to Operation Venetic: a national investigation into the use of encrypted mobile devices, commonly referred to as EncroChat."
