Suspected EncroChat dealer named and remanded in custody

Merseyside Police have charged a man as part of Operation Venetic, an investigation into the use of encrypted phones - known as EncroChat.

A man from Wirral is the latest person to be charged on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs (cocaine) and Class B drugs (cannabis). Peter Lynch, 43, of St Georges Mount, New Brighton, was arrested and charged on Thursday, March 24.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Wirral Magistrates Court tomorrow, Friday, March 25.

The charges form part of the Merseyside Police response to Operation Venetic: a national investigation into the use of encrypted mobile devices, commonly referred to as Encrochat.
