Suspected Drunken Driver Passes Near Vice President's Motorcade

An image captured from Wisconsin Department of Transportation video shows a suspected drunken driver heading the wrong way on Interstate 94, traveling within feet of Vice President Kamala Harris' moto

A suspected drunken driver narrowly missed Vice President Kamala Harris' motorcade in Wisconsin this week. The incident occurred after Harris had finished a rally in Brookfield and was traveling on Interstate 94 in Milwaukee. Sheriff's deputies stopped the wrong-way driver, a 55-year-old man from Milwaukee, who showed signs of intoxication and had an open container of alcohol in his vehicle.

The driver claimed he was unaware he was going the wrong way and was just heading home after a night out. The sheriff's office is awaiting the results of his blood alcohol test but has recommended charging him with second-degree reckless endangerment and operating while intoxicated.

The man entered the interstate via an off-ramp, and it is unclear if any access points were blocked due to the motorcade. The Secret Service confirmed that the interstate was closed, and there was no contact between the motorcade and the driver's vehicle.

This is the second incident involving a Harris campaign motorcade in Milwaukee recently. In September, press vans following her running mate's motorcade were rear-ended in the city. The Harris campaign in Wisconsin directed inquiries to the Secret Service for further information.
