A suspected drink-driver was arrested after he crashed a Porsche while fleeing police, traffic cops have said. The drama happened in Heaton Mersey, Stockport, on Saturday night.
Police posted pictures which showed the red sports car in traffic on Didsbury Road and then moments later with extensive damage to its front end after crashing with a taxi. The driver was said to have fled but was arrested following a brief foot-chase. Tonight he remained in police custody and was being quizzed on suspicion of a series of traffic offences, including drink-driving.

Police said no-one was seriously hurt during the incident and an investigation into the incident is continuing. Soon after he was installed as the new chief constable of Greater Manchester Police last year, Stephen Watson vowed to increase the number of traffic cops on the roads.
Following the crash in Heaton Mersey earlier today, GMP Traffic posted pictures of the car and tweeted: "The driver of this Porsche collided with a taxi on Didsbury Road whilst trying to escape #XT74.
"The driver ran off but didn't get far. He has failed a breath test and is en-route to custody for Dangerous Driving / Failing to stop and Drink Driving. No serious injuries. #fatal4."
