Suspected bill dodgers flee after racking up £108 unpaid tab at 'best curry house'

Suspected bill dodgers stuffed their faces with curries, naans and booze before allegedly making off without paying. Cafe Spice, in Darlington, has released CCTV images after three customers allegedly left the Clark's Yard eatery without paying for their food order.

Run by father-and-son Brian and Ishy Miah, the venue is renowned for its top-quality dishes and was even named as the best curry house in the North East last year. Items on the trio's order - which came to a total of £108.85 - included chicken madras, chicken tikka masala, lamb biryani, pilau rice, garlic naan, peshwari naan, tandoori chicken and poppadoms with a pickle tray.

Cobra beers and double Jack Daniels and Coke were also listed under the ordered drinks. The site shared the images in a Facebook post alongside the simple statement: "Three men left today without paying their bill. Police will be informed if the bill is not paid today. Please share."

Cafe Spice did not wish to add anything further to this comment, TeessideLive reports. You can see the full order on the receipt in the image below.

The post has been shared widely across social media, with hundreds sharing the restaurant's plea. One person commented: "Disgusting. Why do some people find this funny?"

This is not the first incident of this kind for the popular Darlington restaurant this year. Back in February, the venue was forced to release CCTV footage after two of its customers left without paying their bill.

The pair drank vodka, rum, and wine, spending £83.05, before telling staff they were going outside to vape and never returning to settle the bill.
