A man was charged with robbery after allegedly stealing items from Farmfoods.
Detectives were called to reports that two men went into Farmfoods store, on Boundary Street, St Helens, and took goods from the shelf. One of the men made threats to staff when challenged and took even more items on Friday, January 27.
Both suspects then left the store but further attempts were made to steal from the shop on Sunday, January 29. Officers then arrested a man.

Wilde, 36, of Frodsham Drive, St Helens has now been charged with robbery and assault by beating. Wilde remains in custody and will appear at Wirral Magistrates Remand Court today, Tuesday 31 January.
In another incident on Sunday, January 29, officers received a report that Whittaker’s Schoolwear on Bridge Street had been broken in to and money was stolen. Later that day it was reported that a man entered McColls on Higher Parr Street with a knife, demanded money from staff and made off with a quantity of money. No one was injured in the incident.
Then at around 8.50pm that evening, a man broke into a house on Cooper Street and left the property after being confronted by people who live there. Wayne Anthony Jones, 29 years, of Furness Avenue in St Helens has been charged with robbery, possession of a weapon in a public place, burglary and theft from a shop.
He will appear at Wirral Adult Remand Court today, Tuesday, January 31.
