A suspect was named by police after the attempted robbery of a Halifax Bank and post office.
Merseyside Police rushed to Bootle Strand Shopping Centre at around 12.25pm on Monday, May 30, following reports of a man firing a gun inside. Once officers arrived at the scene they were told by eyewitnesses the shots were fired at Halifax bank and the man made off from the scene on a dark mountain bike.
No injuries were reported but members of staff and customers in the bank were left "extremely shaken" by the incident, police said. Two days later police rushed to Park Lane Post Office in Netherton at around 3.15pm after a man entered the shop and demanded cash from the till.

When staff refused to give him cash, it was reported he fired a gun, described by witnesses as appearing to be a starting pistol, into the air. Police said it was reported the man then made off on a pedal bike.
Later the same day police arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of attempted robbery. Adam Gilbert, 36, of no fixed abode but originally from the Bootle area, was charged with two counts of attempted robbery, two counts of possession of an imitation firearm and one count of possession of an imitation firearm in a public place.
He was remanded into custody to appear at Liverpool City Magistrates Court on June 3, 2022.
