Susanna Reid wows ITV Good Morning Britain viewers as she shuts down heated interview over guests' 'audacity' while defending show

Susanna Reid has been accused of 'losing it' during a heated interview on Good Morning Britain. The presenter ended up shutting down the chat with a Just Stop Oil protestor on the ITV news programme on Wednesday (November 9).

Susanna was back at the helm of the show with Ed Balls when they were joined by the group's spokesperson Sam Johnson. His appearance on the programme came as the Just Stop Oil group continued its protests on the M25 for a third day.

Sam claimed that the disruption from the activist group would end as soon as the government makes a statement that it will stop all new oil and gas. Mr Johnson also claimed that the media isn't doing enough to talk about the issues surrounding climate change.

But as the conversation became tenser, Susanna hit back at the claims as she pointed toward the efforts of the show's meteorologist Laura Tobin to raise awareness around climate change. But the 51-year-old didn't waste any time in shutting down the interview when Mr Johnson admitted he didn't watch the show.

Clearly offended by the comment about the media, Susanna asked Mr Johnson: "Have you watched this programme?" to which he responded: "No." This prompted Susanna to defend GMB saying: "So you don't have any idea what this programme does.

"You have no idea who our meteorologist is, Laura Tobin, who is one of the most outspoken people on climate change, who has written an entire book on what we each need to do as individuals on climate change and you have the audacity to come on here and say that we're completely distracted and not talking about the issues, we talk about them every single morning Sam."

She continued: "You're not getting people on your side, including people who would naturally be sympathetic to your cause."

But Susanna then shut down the debate, which posed whether Just Stop Oil was a "danger to society" as protestors continued to block the M25, saying: "Sorry, I'm going to end it there because you've already said that you don't watch and you don't care."

GMB viewers were quick to flock to social media to comment on Susanna's actions, with many praising her. @marcus28769891 tweeted: "@GMB What fantastic reporting and presenting from Ed Balls and Susanna Reid this morning. Shutting down the stop oil guy who was talking absolute rubbish and instantly closing down the interview. It’s just a shame he was given airtime in the first place."

@briansawey wrote: "Love how Susanna Reid completely pumped that Just Stop Oil activist on GMB. She took him to the cleaners #GMB." @dobiemanengland posted: "Wonder what happened to Susanna Reid last night ? shes come to work on top form this morning . i cant believe ive spent 5 years giving her stick , she is fast becoming one of my favourite presenters . 10/10 #GMB."

@HelenMackie27 commented: "Ooooh I wouldn't want to cross Susanna. Well said #GMB." @Mofoman360 legend: "Susanna you Legend well done for shutting him down and up massive respect #GMB." @teenamassam added: "Cut off just like that, brilliant Susanna #gmb."
