Susanna Reid honours Bill Turnbull with emotional tribute after BBC host's death aged 66

Susanna Reid said she 'felt lucky' to have worked with Bill Turnbull and he'd 'taught her everything,' after the TV host died aged 66, following a battle with prostate cancer.

The news came in on Thursday morning that Bill, most famous for being a long-standing presenter on BBC Breakfast, as well as enjoying a spin in the BBC ballroom as a Strictly contestant, had passed away, after bravely fighting his cancer right to the end.

Within moments of news of Bill's death being made public, social media was full of tributes to a man respected by his colleagues and loved by many viewers. And, one of the famous faces swift to pay tribute to Bill was Susanna, who presented BBC Breakfast with him, before she made the switch to ITV to be an anchor on Good Morning Britain.

Taking to Twitter, she wrote: "Bill was the kindest, funniest, most generous man in the business. I feel lucky to have worked with him and he taught me everything. But above all, he was devoted to his family and I am heartbroken for them. RIP Bill. We will miss you so much."

Only last year Susanna and Bill had an unexpected reunion on screen as he joined her as a guest presenter on GMB, much to the delight of viewers who loved seeing the two hosts form a TV partnership once again.

ITV's Julie Etchingham was among the many people to react to Susanna's tribute to Bill, with her replying: "Love to you too Susanna, you were wonderful onscreen together." One of Susanna's many followers told her: "Thought of you straight away..so sorry you've lost your friend Susanna, the bond between you was obvious..made me smile when he kept everything (including you!) to time when he was on GMB, a great broadcaster and seemed such a genuinely good man."
